Progress!

So Yesterday we got some good progress started on the room! Many calls were made (thanks Lisa) and we got a good chunk of money donated. SO I started to shop for a few things.
Yesterday I got....

-4 window panels. (drapes) They were regularly 49.99 and I got them on sale for 14.99 each! And they are real raw silk and lined inside and the most beautiful color of slate blue.

-Picture frames. Silver, mirrored and white. All on sale or clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond!

-Small cube ottoman. SO adorable on clearance at TJ Max. It is primarily brown with a paisley design that is kinda gold, blue, burnt orange, just adorable. I am hoping to get two side chairs to create a sitting area for when people visit to go with the ottoman.

That's about all I got so far but a good start I think! I am going to go get paint hopefully tonight! Wish me luck! Love you all!

Finding Comfort in a Hard Time.

Hi everyone! If you are looking at this blog its probably because you already know the sneaky plan that we are up to. :) But in case you don't this is what we got going I will explain. Mama Lange has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery along with some yet to be determined post surgery treatment. i.e: chemo and or radiation. As all this news has been sinking in many people have been asking what they can do to help.

I was watching "Dear Genevieve" the other day and she was making a master bedroom retreat for a couple who had never been able to put all the pieces together. The woman on the show was talking about how important it was for her to feel comfortable in her bedroom. How it was her place to go and relax.

I got to thinking of the same exact struggle that my mom has had with her master bedroom. Because she will be spending quite a bit of time in that bedroom over this next year I thought how cool would it be if we could freshin it up for her as a surprise for when she gets home from her surgery! This would give her a fresh new room to start this journey out in.

Now I will be doing what I can but I am going to post ideas I have and would LOVE your input. And if you would like to participate feel free to send contributions and a card to Julie if you would like, to me at (713 Sitka Deer Ct NW Salem, OR 97304) I will use your contribution to buy things I have planed to get and make that your gift to her. I will be keeping track of everything that everyone contribute and putting it all in the room ready for her surprise design when she gets home.

The design plan that I have tentatively in place is:

Wall color a bit darker of a tan than what is presently on the walls.

What I like about this picture is the light slate Blue drapes on the windows which would add some color and also block out the light.

Also a headboard is going to be constructed like this one above in Chocolate Brown by Mr. and Mrs. Loy and Mr. and Mrs. Ward! DONE! :)

I am hoping to do the same picture frame idea like this picture above the bed. I may modify it a bit to fit our family. I'm thinking a Picture of Mom and Dad in the middle in black and white and a picture of Brad and I and Travis and Kristen on each side. Possibly all of our wedding pictures. :)
The ones in this picture above are from IKEA and I think they are perfect and affordable!

We would need 3 they are 19 3/4 x 19 3/4 and costs $17.99 Click HERE to view.

The other thing I love about this room above is the bench at the bottom of the bed. It is cute but would also be practical as people will be coming to visit and would have somewhere to sit other than on moms feet! :) I found one I thought was cute at Wal-Mart but if anyone finds one better I'm all for whatever! Here is a picture and a link to the one I found. Click HERE to go to the website.
Alright everyone this is all I have come up with so far. I'm not too good at all this decorating stuff so feel free to give suggestions. We are on a time crunch here so I am prepared for not all of this to happen if its not possible I just thought it would be fun if we could pull it off! :) Call me if you have any questions or email me at ashleyreynoso@gmail.com. Don't forget ITS A SURPRISE!!!
Love you all!
